RUGNET FOR NSPCC

The Kingston Uni netball and rugby teams joined forces for a brilliantly unique day of sport and charity at the recent Rugnet Charity Event on Tuesday 25th February. In a fun twist to celebrate teamwork, netballers proudly wore Rugby's jerseys while the rugby players sported our blue netball dresses, symbolizing a delightful exchange of roles and kit. Mixed teams kicked off the festivities with an energetic hour of tag rugby, before switching gears to enjoy a fast-paced hour of netball. With an entry fee of just £3 per person, the event brought together the university community for a day of spirited athleticism and community bonding.

This special event was organized to support the NSPCC—the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The NSPCC is a vital charity dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect, providing crucial resources, guidance, and support to vulnerable young people and their families. By participating in this innovative sport evening, every player and supporter contributed to a cause that transforms lives, and we are still tallying up the funds raised. It’s inspiring to see such diverse teams come together, not only to challenge each other on the field but also to back an organization working tirelessly to ensure every child’s safety and well-being.

VARSITY 2025💙

February is here, and with it comes the excitement of the upcoming Varsity games in March. For those who may not know, Varsity is an annual event where Kingston University sports teams go head-to-head against their City University counterparts. It's a thrilling opportunity for all athletes to showcase their skills, and for our students to come together and cheer them on. This year, our Kingston netball teams are gearing up to take on the competition, with the 2nd team playing an away game at City University on Tuesday 25th March, and the 1st team hosting a home game at Tolworth grounds on Wednesday 26th March. The home game promises to be an electric atmosphere, with the 1st team taking to the court at 1:30pm. To add to the excitement, we'll have inflatables, food trucks, and a DJ spinning tracks to keep the energy high. It's going to be an event not to be missed, and we encourage all students to come out and show their support for our sports teams Whether you're a die-hard netball fan or just looking for a fun day out, Varsity is the perfect opportunity to get involved and be a part of the Kingston University community.

To show your team spirit, you can also purchase a limited-edition Varsity t-shirt for just £10. This is a great way to rep your university and cheer on our teams in style. You can purchase by googling 'Kingston University Student Union' and it is displayed on the homepage!

The t-shirt will grant you entry to the event, and all proceeds will go towards supporting the event. So mark your calendars for these days, and get ready to join in on the fun. With the 1st team playing at 1:30pm at Tolworth grounds, and the 2nd team taking on City University away on Tuesday, 25th March, there's plenty of netball action to get excited about.

Let's come together and show City University what we're made of!

Varsity Supporting Sign Workshop💙

Alongside the varsity t-shirts that are available to purchase at the SU, we decided as a club to host a sign making workshop.

Last year during Varsity, Netball painted and drew signs for varsity to hold up during games to support our fellow sports members, so this year we are opening it up to other sports teams to build a sense of community one last time before the season is over!

We welcome all sports teams and hope that everyone can join us :) x
